We are hiring for Lead and Assistant Teachers for Game Changers!

LEAD TEACHERS

We are looking for Lead Teachers with integrated backgrounds in constructivist education, design, and entrepreneurship. Educators will have to have prior experiences and training in teaching teens ages 13-16 and align with our philosophy, i.e., active, interactive, and inventive teaching as a way to change the world. Teachers have to be committed to teach for two weeks and undergo a 2-day training program to prepare for their role as facilitators of learning in the Game Changer Camp.

Working at Young Outliers in the summer is an opportunity to engage students in out-of-the-box learning. The pedagogy taps into the teen participants’ perspectives, experiences, and passions. Through an experiential process, the Lead Teacher facilitates learning and is not a know-it-all educator. This means, we are hiring individuals that believe in the potential of teens and are able to inspire and empathize with their developmental levels and interests through hands-on learning activities. This individual will also have had experiences in teaching and practicing Design Thinking and Lean Start-Up.

Our vision is to inspire children ages 13-16 and provide them with exciting and fun learning experiences that build on their passions. The Game Changer Camp motivates and nurtures campers to tap into their abilities, interests, and work in teams, through hands-on design entrepreneurship.

Teachers at our summer studios connect with campers’ hearts and minds. They facilitate lessons and interactions to empower and liberate teens through engagement, creativity, teamwork, leadership, and empathy.

What makes working at Young Outliers fun and meaningful?

Working at Young Outliers will expose you to educational approaches that inspire, engage, and excite young learners.

All lessons are prepared for teachers. Teachers will undergo a 2-day training program to prepare for their role as facilitators of learning in the summer studios.

Teachers will be trained to facilitate curricula inspired by neuroscience and the Constructivist philosophy. Game Changer lessons expose teachers to strategies that engage students in active, meaningful, and fun learning. All activities are hands-on, taking educational research on how best teens learn, to the next level.

Lessons connect with real-world applications. Design Thinking, Lean Start Up, distilling concepts from practice, collaboration, leadership, and technology skills are presented in the form of games and socially-interactive hands-on activities. The lessons are linked to design entrepreneurship, providing campers real-world challenges that make themes relevant and useful in shaping solutions. Lead Teachers will also guide the teen participants in formulating and designing pitch decks, websites, and mobile apps.

We offer competitive salaries for the 2-week camp.

ASSISTANT TEACHERS

We are looking for Assistant Teachers with background in design, entrepreneurship, and/or constructivist education. You will be working with the Lead Teacher, specifically in differentiating the lessons to individual and team needs and abilities.

The assistant teacher has to be committed to assist the lead teacher for two weeks and undergo a 2-day training program to prepare for their role as co-facilitators of learning in the Game Changer Camp.

Assistant Teachers at the Game Changers Camp connect with individual campers’ hearts and minds. They nurture interactions to empower and liberate teens through engagement, creativity, teamwork, leadership, and empathy.

We offer competitive salaries for the 2-week camp.
